"GTA 6: Microsoft's Prediction For The Release Date"
The controversy over the Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard turns out to be a source of interesting details.
We now know that Sony Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft alike do not plan to launch their next-generation video game console until 2028.
Another possibility, as it transpires is that the former is of the opinion it is likely that GTA 6 will be released sometime in 2024.
In addition to the new console release date projections Beyond the date projections for next-gen consoles, the Microsoft document filed with the court also mentions that "The much-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch in 2024".
A portion of the compilation suggests the possible release year of 2024. This was uncovered through a prediction made by an industry expert Jeff Cohen.
The forecast itself was from Take-Two Interactive's financial reports at the time.
Cohen wasn't the only one who made the prediction, since Doug Creutz of Cowen made the same prediction from the same call to investors.
That being said the reveal and the possible release date for GTA 6 line up with the process that GTA V went through.
The developer Rockstar Games publicly acknowledged that the game was being developed in late 2011 with the game debuting in 2013.
This year, the developers announced earlier this year that GTA 6 is indeed in the process of development. Test build footage was also released as recently as September and confirmed by Rockstar Games.
It could be just a coincidence or a coincidence, but it's likely this pattern indicates it is likely that the following game will be out by 2024.
